Understanding PG and VG Ratios

vg vs pg

Four basic ingredients are in every e-liquid: PG, VG, water, and nicotine. What makes vapes special is the PG and the VG. These two chemicals provide the puffs of cloud that are emitted with each exhalation, and the amazing feel inside your throat with every breath. The physical nature of each chemical liquid requires matching them to the proper vaporizer size. Our delicious e-juices come in the form of a mixture containing primarily VG and a smaller proportion of PG.

What is VG?

VG stands for vegetable glycerin. This thick liquid is derived from – you guessed it – vegetables. VG is responsible for producing the thick plumes of vapor when it is smoked. It also has a sweet taste, which many people enjoy. However, for some people this taste can interfere with the flavoring of the e-juice.

Because VG is a thick liquid, it often leaves a gunky residue inside of vaporizers. This means that you will have to clean your vaporizers more often if you use e-juices that have high amounts of VG. E-liquids that are purely VG or that contains a high ratio of VG to PG work best with larger vaporizers. Though there is less of a concern about allergic reactions to VG, some people have reported that it causes a build-up of phlegm in the back of their throats.

What is PG?

PG stands for propylene glycol. It is favored by some over VG because PG creates a better “throat hit” feel when it is inhaled. Since PG is tasteless, it does not interfere with the flavor of the liquid. Since PG is a thinner liquid than VG, it is more easily absorbed in the vaporizers and leaves less gunk. The thin texture of PG makes it compatible with smaller vaporizers. Some people have mild to strong allergic reactions to PG, which can include a tingly or itchy throat. More severe reactions include hives that appear on the skin throughout the body.

What is the VG:PG Ratio of White Label Juice Products?

White Label Juice produces e-liquids that are a mixture of both VG and PG, so that our clients can be enjoy the benefits of both. We provide an assortment of familiar and exotic flavors, most of which contain 90% VG and 10% PG. We also carry e-juices that are 80% VG to 20% PG. Due to the high VG content, our liquids are most compatible with larger vaporizers. We produce our e-juice in small quantities, and by hand, which ensures consistency of quality across time.
